Hug Your Farmer - Hard Rain

My very first year in Burlington, I was walking downtown and I remember deciding to take a chance on this musician I’d heard so much about named Bob Dylan. It was March, I was freezing, it was absolutely downpouring, and Dylan appropriately crooned the words to ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ in my ears. While that first listen didn’t leave me so enthused, his music has since aged like fine wine to my ears.

This September, a group of the finest musicians that Vermont has ever known labored to bring a benefit show playing the music of Dylan to the Flynn. As a fundraiser to raise money for the Vermont farmers impacted by the intense flooding that struck our state this summer, the show was appropriately named “Hard Rain” and was presented by Hug Your Farmer, an organization with a legacy of this kind of show put on throughout the years.

From the buzzing energy that radiated throughout the basement green rooms to the explosive performances on stage, everywhere I looked was an incredible photograph waiting to be captured and I was so honored to be the official photographer for such an event. I got to hear some of the most beautiful renditions of Dylan’s tunes yet and I surely hope the photos will do these folks and this night a bit of justice.

The musicians: Bob Wagner, Josh Weinstein, Steve Hadeka, Ray Paczkowski, Corey Wilhelm, Clint Beirman, Matt Flinner, Matt LaRocca, Tony Naples, Peter Day, Chadwick Stokes, Brett Hughes, Kat Wright, Tessa Gordon, Mike Gordon, Dwight Ritcher, Nicole Nelson, The Sweet Remains, Kelli O’Hara, Josh Panda, Seth Yacovone, Martin Sexton
